The area of the study " Skeniya alluvial fan " lies in the southern slope of Sinjar mountain .

It’s about ( 31.7 km2 ) .

The fan lies ( 25 km ) to the west of Sinjar .

This area has reliefs and lies between ( 1377 m ) as the highest point " the northern beginning of the base " and ( 480 m ) above the sea level " the end of the fan " near the general road of Sinjar -um Al_Ziban and it represents the southern border of the fan .

On the other hand , Jadala village represents the eastern border of the fan and shlo valley it’s southern border .

From an astronomical point of view , the area is identified by the tow latitudes ( 36 16 and 36 21 ) to the north and the tow longitudes ( 41 32 and 41 36 ) to the east .

There geological formations in the area belong in to the miocens Quaternary age .

The current research aims at specifying the reasons behind the phenomenon of fans including Skeniya valley fan and it’s morphological and geomorphological features in addition to studying the slope of the surface depending on Zink classification and making a map for the slope of the area surface and it’s direction.

The study has shown that most of the fan surface and it’s supply base lie within the first and second groups of Zink classification with the existence of rough sediments ranging between big rocks and soft stones which are considered important constructive materials for the houses in Skeniya village .

The study has also shown that the fan surface cover with brown red soil with high production.
