This study aimed to clarify the importance of using proverbs and sayings in learning English language and the attitudes of secondary school students towards the use of saying and words of wisdom in learning English as a foreign language in in Gaza.

The study community was represented by the first year secondary students at Faisal Bin Fahd Secondary School for Girls.

To achieve the goals of the study, a questionnaire was distributed to (40) students who were chosen by the cluster random method.

The data was processed using the statistical analysis program (SPSS).

The study reached many results, the most important of which are that the students' attitudes in general are positive towards learning English language by using the proverbial strategy, and that students have intermediate degrees of convenience.

It also concluded that the use of the new strategy increases communication with others and distinguishes from other students in the school through mastery of speaking English language.

Depending on the results, the researcher presented a set of proposals, the most important of which are The need for female students to acquire some sayings as a result of the effectiveness of this strategy compared to the traditional method.

Also, Assistance of the teacher to the students in using the various school activities, as they have an effective role in developing the language.
