The aim of the present research is to highlight the natural features of Sarawat Mountains in the Asir region in order to determine the rates of rainfall and temperature in the region through analyzing the data of three meteorological stations for the period between 1983 and 2017.

Compared with different regions of Saudi Arabia, the Sarawat Mountains in Asir region are uniquely distinguished by their location, climate, and vegetation cover.

Concerning location, they are surrounded by vast wild areas except for the Red Sea, which borders it to the west.

As for the terrain, they are predominantly rugged with different altitudes.

As for the climate, they are characterized by high rainfall and relatively low temperatures.

These topographical features make the Sarawat Mountains a humid climatic island with a diverse vegetation cover.

To achieve the purpose of the research, a study of the rates of rainfall and temperature as well as an analysis of some satellite images were conducted.

The results indicate a decrease in the rate of rainfall and a rise in temperature since 1999, which has led to an acute drought resulting in deterioration of the vegetation cover.

Moreover, the analysis of some satellite images for the period between 1985 and 2015 confirms the deterioration of the vegetation cover.
