The knowledge society is a historic opportunity to achieve high rates of growth, social balance, and wider participation in decision-making, to ensure sustainable development.

The current study aims to define the role of information institutions, especially academic libraries, in establishing a knowledge society and achieving the goals of the United Nations Vision 2030, and identifying the impact of the University Libraries Union project on university library services and its role in supporting the knowledge society and sustainable development.

The study relied on the documentary approach, and concluded that the library sector is an integral part of the national economy, especially in the age of knowledge and the knowledge economy, and recommended the necessity of providing an automated insurance system to manage information sources, linking the information provider with the beneficiary researcher through electronic channels, and providing a platform to provide services The knowledge base of the beneficiaries around the clock, and the activation of a database for a unified index of all member libraries of the University Libraries Association to help them develop their collections, and the provision of a platform that enhances the role of open resources for the access of libraries to the network to provide highly efficient knowledge services based on open sources.
