The study of socio-spatial disparities is one of the privileged areas of geographic research.

It is based on a rich and evolving conceptual arsenal.

In this sense, the notion of “marginality” is used to characterize a state of territorial “underdevelopment” that affects areas that are qualified as marginal, marginalized, peripheral, fragile, excluded, or even in crisis or delayed development, etc.

These terms refer to paradigms such as the “centre/periphery” relationship.

This article is therefore intended as a contribution to the debate on spatial marginality.

This will be approached on the basis of the analysis of a set of indicators likely to allow a better legibility of the territory of Souss Massa and to sketch, ultimately, a typology of territories on the basis of a multivariate analysis.

This work will be based on the Principal Component Analysis method.

The results of this analysis will be interpreted to highlight the factors that govern the territorial configurations within this region and their implications for regional planning and development.
