This study aims to investigate the effect of gamification in the development of Information Literacy skills (IL) for students in post- basic education in the Sultanate of Oman by using quasi-experimental design.

It was applied to 43 students in the eleventh-grade.

The results revealed that the students in the experimental group were not affected by gamifying training program.

On the other hand, the performance of the students in the control group improved after receiving the lessons of IL skills by using the traditional method.

However, the results of the study showed the positive effect of designed classroom activities using gamification to improve the performance of the students in classroom evaluation compared to those designed according to the traditional method.

Based on the findings of the study, it recommended that the educational policymakers should facilitate and develop a clear plan to develop the skills of the students' IL in schools through the different educational stages by integrating them into the curriculum.

In addition, they should qualify the teaching staff and information specialists in the school environment with IL skills and how to apply gamification in the study programs.
