The research focused on studying the proverbs mentioned in al-Maydānī’s Majma‘ al-Amthāl, aiming at exploring the cultural acts which conveyed them in the ancient Arab environment, and shedding light on how it was able to produce violence, within the framework of cultural criticism concerned with revealing discourses patterns, in terms of cultural events of historically extended social impact.

The research problem could be summarized in an attempt to understand the foundations of violence for people using such proverbs, and to reveal and legitimize mechanisms of legalization of them.

The research assumed that the concept of ʿAsabiyya’ (solidarity) is the engine of violence, and the guarantor of its continuity.

It is a very self-enclosed concept and very sharp other-denial.

The paper has also sought to clarify the violence role by focusing on the conceptions it formulated about the self, the other, and life, and observed the most prominent manifestations of violence that solidarity worked not only on its legislation, but also made it higher values that souls grieve for, and perpetuates its campaigners.

The paper concluded that violence is valuable in the ancient Arab culture.

In a sense, we find it coequal for strength, not necessarily, but because of the culture that incited its texts to initiate injustice and aggression.

We find that these texts resonate in the contemporary Arab reality through adaptation and compliance.

We do not have to deal with violence when we consider its practices with pride and a record of glories.

Hence, the necessity of highlighting the violence springs based on the principle of solidarity and disrupting the critical mind.
