The study aimed to explain the reasons why Jordanian families in the central governorates request housing from housing projects and to reveal the role of housing projects in solving the housing crisis and developing low-service areas in light of some variables, to achieve the objectives of the study, the social survey method was used in the sample by preparing a questionnaire distributed on a regular random sample of 433 families that benefited from the institution's projects, The study came up with a series of results, the most prominent of which were: The main reason for the family's housing demand for housing by the Public Institution for Housing and Urban Development is the lack of sufficient income, The study also showed that the arithmetic mean the responses of sample members to the role of housing projects provided by the Public Institution for Housing and Urban Development in resolving the housing crisis and developing lowservice areas in the central governorates ranged from (2.10- 3.93), The overall score was average at an arithmetic mean (3.48); The absence of statistical D difference between the responses of study members due to gender variables, the number of residents in the housing unit, family income, family income sources and the workplace showed that there were statistical D difference attributable to the province/place of residence
