This paper deals with the main functions of mints in Islamic ages.

The author explains in detail these functions depending on the original texts of resources and inscriptions on coins.

This work revealed the political and economic role of the mints as well as the main technical functions concerning the production of coins.

In addition, it highlighted the relation between functions of mints and texts of inscription on coins.

Moreover, it proves that mint was making other products such as metal versions of political decisions for propaganda purposes, determination decisions of currency exchange rate, and Dirham Al-kayel.

Furthermore, this work interprets the role of the mints associated with the secret decisions of the rulers concerning the new issues of incomplete weights of gold and silver coins and emphasizes the evolution of the institutional role of the mints In Egypt, such a role was evident during the rule of Muhammad Ali Pasha period, especially in production of formal institutions stamps.

Finally, it can be concluded that “mints” had played an important role in economic and political activities in Islamic countries in Middle Ages.
