The study aimed to try to show the reciprocal relationship between the exchange rate and the interest rate as representatives of financial liberalization and the variables of the Iraqi banking system and its reflection on the development of the efficiency of the banking sector in Iraq.

Interest with some variables in the banking sector quantitatively for the period 2004-2020.

The researcher used the Eviews program in the statistical analysis to test the stability of the time series, while the method of least squares (SPSS) was used to test the validity of a relationship between the dependent variables and the independent variables, given that both the exchange rate and the interest rate represent financial liberalization, financial depth, deposit index and credit size index They represent the efficiency of the banking system, and the extracted results did not justify such propositions, as it was not shown through the quantitative side that there are clear positive effects of the impact of the exchange rate and interest on the variables of the banking sector, but it was found from most models that there is no significant effect of the independent variables on the dependent variables.

Finally, the study recommended that since it is not possible to be certain of the positive impact of financial liberalization on the efficiency of the banking system, the economic policy should be patient in adopting this policy, whose economic effects can negatively affect the national economy compared to the simple benefits that can be obtained by some variables of this banking system If there are benefits at all.
