Ulysses Simpson Grant gained a great interest in history of Unite State Of America.

He played a distinguished role during the American Civil War (1861 – 1865 a.

d) and became a prominent figure in the late nineteenth century.

After graduating from West Point Military College, he served in the army during the Mexican-American War ( 1846 – 1848 a.

d ), and resigned from military service in 1854 AD to return to it at the beginning of the American Civil War in 1861.

He rose through the military ranks to become the Commander-in-Chief of the Union armies for his distinguished and essential role throughout the war, which greatly contributed to his fame thanks to his military experience in combat and his distinguished methods.

He achieved many victories, the most recent of which was the Battle of Richmond and the surrender of the Southern Union Army in 1865.

He was nominated by the Republican Party for the US presidential elections in 1868, where he won to become the eighteenth president of the United States of America ( 1869- 1872 a.

d).

As well as his election to a second term ( 1873 – 1877 a.

d.

), during his time in office, Grant and his cabinet conducted political, economic and social reforms, and tried to unite his divided nation as a result of the civil war that cost the country great human and material losses.
