This article presents the results of an analysis of the metalinguistic comments of a group of students on the choice of the temporal auxiliary in FFL.

The objective of this study is to verify whether the use of the rule constitutes a handicap and a source of errors with regard to the metalinguistic treatment of FFL structures.

In fact, learners resort to the rule each time that they carry out a metalinguistic analysis of the structures of the target language.

However, the results of this study reveal the limits of the grammatical rule in such an operation.

الملخص FRE

Cet article présente les résultats d'une analyse des commentaires métalinguistiques, d'un groupe d'étudiants, portant sur leur choix de l'auxiliaire temporel en français.

Notre objectif, à travers cette étude, est de vérifier l'apport et les limites de la règle grammaticale dans l'analyse métalinguistique des structures du FLE.

Autrement dit, voir si le recours à la règle constitue un handicap et une source d'erreurs quant au traitement métalinguistique des structures du FLE.

En effet, les apprenants recourent à la règle, à chaque fois, qu'ils procèdent à une analyse métalinguistique des structures de la langue cible.

Toutefois, les résultats de cette étude révèlent les limites de la règle grammaticale dans une telle opération.
