الملخص الإنجليزي

The study mainly sought to analyse the European Union (France and Italy) position regarding the political conflict in Libya during 2011-2018, in addition to testing the validity of the main hypothesis from which it stemmed from ‘ The EU (France and Italy) foreign policy negatively affected the Libya political developments during 2011-2018, as well as proving the validity of the study problem and the questions which were mentioned.

The study adopted the analytical descriptive approach in addition to the national interest and the systematic approach.

The study concluded that France seeks to maximize its economic interests through the stratification challenges facing its role in the international level, while Italy is striving to maintain its influence in Libya for historical considerations.

The competition between regional and international powers had become clear in the course of the Libya crisis, especially between the two European countries, France and Italy, which behaviour in Libya have become characterised by dynamism and continuous change, thus achieving their interests, strengthening their influence, and maintaining their national security.

The Italian-French competition reflected on the radical changes in Libya, especially in the security field and strengthening the military confrontation between the eastern regions (supported by France) and the west ( Supported by Italy).

The study stresses the importance of supporting France and Italy to encourage dialogue towards the formation of a unified national government, in addition to setting an immediate end to the parallel institutions and unifying the military and security institutions.
