الملخص EN

This study argues that, folk children’s play-games in the central regions of Sudan & Khartoum area can be utilized as an intuitive source for creating distinctive works of sculpture.

the main idea behind creating such works, besides its artistic values, is to preserve and document some of these folk play-games which have started to die away gradually as a consequence of the inevitable cultural changes towards modern life styles, the study has two parts, theoretical and applicational.

in the first part, the researcher describes & analyze methodologically some of the known folk children’s play-games which are practiced in the central regions of Sudan & Khartoum.

different research tools were used to collect and document data from official sources, literature, research papers, folks and personal experiences.

in the applicational part of this study, the researcher creates various pieces of sculpture that reflect creative ideas, through different materials, techniques and styles.

in these works the researcher meant to capture the spirit of each folk of children’s play-games in a separate work of art & design concept.

at the end of this study the researcher prov that, children folk play-games can work as rich source for distinctive art work and innovative designs which can be used in different interiors & exterior locations in the city environment in a way that relates the inhabitants to their cultural heritage and folk life.
