Translation and diplomatic coexist in harmony since a long time ago, because the importance of the foreign language used by the diplomat, which contributes to understand the messages, bringing the time cultures closer and strengthening the relations between the two countries.

generally, diplomatic representations of different countries require the use of two or more languages ; therefore, the language that is used in the diplomatic field is in constant contact, which necessarily establishes a type of common diplomatic language.

diplomatic language belongs to the category of special languages used in the social science.

it is closely related to the history of diplomatic thought and the nature of diplomatic missions since it is considered as a language of protocols, official events and celebrations.

the classification of diplomatic translation comes among the most difficult types of translations due to the characteristics of the diplomatic language, which is filled with all sorts of rhetorical arts and specialized terms, and notably that come in the form of abbreviations that are related to the names of international organizations and bodies, the names of countries, and the names of diplomatic corps.

therefore, this article deals with the research of translating these abbreviations that are related to the diplomatic field from English language into Arabic language.

La traduction et la diplomatie coexistent en harmonie depuis la nuit des temps, or, la langue étrangère avec laquelle communiquent les étrangers, collabore dans la compréhension des messages, rapproche les deux cultures et consolide les relations entre les deux pays.

or, les représentations diplomatiques des différents pays exigent, généralement, l’utilisation de deux langues et plus.

c’est pourquoi, la langue utilisée dans le domaine diplomatique est donc en contact constant, ce qui crée forcément une sorte de langage commun.

la langue diplomatique appartient à la catégorie des langues spéciales usées en sciences sociale ce qui la rend fortement liée à l’histoire de la pensée diplomatique et la nature des missions diplomatiques.

outre, elle est considérée comme étant une langue de protocole des évènements officiels et des célébrations.

de plus, la traduction diplomatique est classifiée parmi les traductions les plus difficiles vue les caractéristiques qui la spécifient comme remplie de toutes sortes d’arts rhétoriques et des terminologies spécialisées, surtout celles qui sont sous forme d’abréviations, jointes fréquemment aux noms des organisations et des organismes internationaux, les noms des pays ainsi que les fonctions diplomatiques.

pour ce faire, cet article étudie la traduction de ces abréviations attachées au domaine diplomatique de la langue anglaise vers la langue arabe.
