This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between family functioning and Internet addiction among college students.

In order to conduct this study, we used the “Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale” (FACES-III) of Olson, the ‘Problematic Internet Use Questionnaire” (PIUQ) of Thatcher & Goolam, and a demographic information questionnaire.

The number of participants rose to 151 students spread over two universities, the University of Algiers II (94 students) and the University of Médéa (57 students).

The data were analyzed using the software SPSS version 25.

The results revealed that 33.1% of the students have a mild addiction, and that 6% of them have an undeniable addiction to the Internet.

The addiction is correlated with the dimension of family cohesion.

These results show the importance of the family function in the prevention against the addiction to internet in students.

الملخص FRE

La présente étude a été menée dans le but d'investiguer la relation entre le fonctionnement familial et l'addiction à l'Internet chez les étudiants.

Afin de réaliser l'étude, nous avons utilisé le « Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale (FACES-III) de Olson, le « Problematic Internet Use Questionnaire » (PIUQ) de Thatcher & Goolam et un questionnaire d'informations démographiques.

Le nombre de participants s'est élevé à 151 étudiants répartis sur deux universités, l'université d'Alger 2 (94 étudiants) et l'université de Médéa (57 étudiants).

Les données ont été analysées à l'aide du logiciel SPSS version 25.

Les résultats ont révélé que (33.

1%) des étudiants ont une addiction légère, et (6%) d'entre eux ont une addition avérée à l'Internet.

L'addiction est corrélée à la dimension de la cohésion familiale.

Ces résultats nous indiquent l'importance de la fonction familiale dans la prévention contre l'addiction à l'Internet chez les étudiants.
