While the French edition I° (1887) of C.

Lombroso's L'homme criminel – this essential book in the history of criminology – is presented as a translation of one of the original (Italian) editions, and more precisely of the IV°, two difficulties arise.

First, since this IV° took place only two years later, it must be considered that a transcription error had been committed, and that said translation would concern the III° edition.

Then it turns out that this solution is put in difficulty from the preface, and that it ends up completely invalidated by the inside of the book.

Between the Italian III° and the French I° there is a deepening of the fusion between the concepts of criminal-born and moral madness, as well as the introduction of the theme of epilepsy.

Hence, we discover a real new edition.

الملخص FRE

Alors que la I° édition française (1887) de L'homme criminel de C.

Lombroso – ce livre essentiel dans l'histoire de la criminologie- se présente comme une traduction de l'une des éditions originales (italiennes), et plus précisément de la IV°, deux difficultés surgissent.

D'abord, comme cette IV° n'a eu lieu que deux années plus tard, force est de considérer qu'une erreur de transcription a été commise, et que ladite traduction concernerait la III° édition.

Ensuite, il s'avère que cette solution est mise en difficulté dès la préface, et qu'elle finit entièrement invalidée par l'intérieur du livre.

Entre la III° italienne et la I° française, il y a un approfondissement de la fusion entre les concepts de criminel-né et de folie morale, ainsi que l'introduction du thème de l'épilepsie.

D'où, on découvre une véritable nouvelle édition.
