This article aims to analyze the main determinants of foreign direct investment in Algeria for the period 1980-2017.

the empirical methodology used is based on the autoregressive scaled lag (ARDL) approach of Mohamed H.

Pesaran et al.

the main empirical results obtained show that the variables: degree of economic openness, GDP per capita and schooling rate have a significant effect on the attractiveness of FDI in Algeria in the long term.

on the other hand, the other variables, namely: exchange rate, inflation, and size of the population have no significant impact on foreign direct investment, neither in the long term nor in the short term.

الملخص FRE

Cet article a pour objet d’analyser les principaux déterminants des investissements directs étrangers en Algérie pour la période 1980-2017.

la méthodologie empirique utilisée est basée sur l’approche autorégressive à retards échelonnés (ARDL) de Mohamed H.

les principaux résultats empiriques obtenus montrent que les variables: degré d’ouverture économique, PIB par habitant et taux de scolarisation ont un effet significatif sur l’attractivité des ide en Algérie à long terme.

en revanche, les autres variables, à savoir: taux de change, inflation, et taille de la population n’ont pas d’impact significatif sur l’investissement direct étranger ni à long terme, ni à court terme.
