Les langues en présence au Yémen : étude sociolinguistique

Language is an essential element of culture and human identity.

It is a subject of debate in all societies.

The various linguistic structures that exist in any country can be identified through the graphical description of the linguistic mapping of any country.

These linguistic structures are based on the principle of hegemony that exists between languages.

Yemen is one of those countries that owns a small part of such discussions that revolve around languages.

The present study examined Arabic, Southern Arabic, Modern Arabic, English, and French languages in which the researcher sought to find an area of discussion that could serve future research in this field.

This study was divided into three parts.

The first part covered the geo-historical situation of Yemen.

The second part reviewed the linguistic situation in Yemen.

In the final part, the researcher attempted to show the sociolinguistic status of the languages under study in terms of use and function.

The most important results of the study were the establishment of a suitable language policy, taking into account the southern Arabic languages.

La description des données de la carte linguistique yéménite fait apparaître la structuration en un ensemble de variétés linguistiques, la formation de cette carte est fondée sur les relations de dominance qu'entretiennent les langues en présence.

Ce travail a insisté sur la situation, l'usage et la fonction des langues en présence.

La première section a touché la description du statut géo-historique du Yémen.

La seconde section a compris la situation linguistique yéménite.

Pour la dernière, nous avons essayé de montrer la situation sociolinguistique de ces langues.

En effet, cette présente investigation a montré que l'Etat est incapable de tenir compte des langues sudarabiques sur le territoire, et participer à l'enrichissement du patrimoine culturel du pays.

Il faut avoir une nette évolution vers la mise en place d'une politique linguistique juste, et vers une conduite plus logique de la question des langues au Yémen.
