يهدف هذا البحث إلى تحديد أسباب الهجرة العربية إلى قارة أمريكا اللاتينية بشكل عام و إلى تشيلي على وجه الخصوص خلال العقود الأولى من القرن العشرين، وتوضيح أوجه معاناة النساء العربيات المهاجرات خلال تلك الرحلات الطويلة و مدى حرصهن على البحث عن الهوية الأنثوية داخل المجتمع المستقبل الموصوم بالتمييز ضد المرأة بشكل عام و المهاجرات العربيات بشكل خاص.
”نعيمة، قصة حياة أمي“ هي نموذج للرواية التشيلية المعاصرة التي تتعرض إلى تفاصيل الهجرة من سوريا إلى تشيلي، و مراحل الإندماج في المجتمع التشيلي، و التنوع الثقافي، و مشكلة تعلم اللغة القشتالية.
تعتمد المنهجية المستخدمة في هذا العمل على المنهج التحليلي النقدي.

الملخص EN
The objective of this research is to determine the reasons for arab emigration to the Latin American continent, in general, and to Chile, in particular, during the first decades of the 20th century, emphasizing the suffering of Arab women emigrants during these long journeys.
Also, we shed light on the several trials for finding their female identity within a receiving society stigmatized by discrimination against women in general and the Arab immigrant in particular.
Nahima, the long story of my mother is a sample of the contemporary Chilean novel, in which the details of emigration from Syria to Chile is clarified: the phases of integration in Chilean society, the cultural diversity and the problem of learning the spanish language.
The methodology used in this research is based on the critical-analytical method.
الملخص FRE
El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar los motivos de la emigración árabe al continente latinoamericano, en general, y a Chile, en especial, durante las primeras décadas del siglo XX, haciendo hincapié en el sufrimiento de las mujeres árabes emigrantes durante aquellos largos viajes.
Asimismo, arrojamos la luz sobre la búsqueda de la identidad femenina dentro de una sociedad receptora estigmatizada por la discriminación contra la mujer, en general, y la inmigrante árabe, en especial.
Nahima, la larga historia de mi madre es una muestra de la novela chilena contemporánea, en la cual se configuran los detalles de la emigración de Siria a Chile, las fases de integración en la sociedad chilena, la diversidad cultural y el problema de aprender el castellano.
La metodología utilizada en este trabajo se basa en el método crítico-analítico.
