This research aims to study the palaces of Iraq in al-Hamawi's book as one of the civilizational sources in Islamic history.

It also confirms the adoption of this book for the purpose of highlighting the urban landmarks in Iraq and making them under the spotlight to illuminate the role of the designers, which remained steadfast for a long period of time.

In fact, the study deals with two topics; the first one is deals with the writer's life, his name, surname, birth and death, in addition to his important writings.

While the second emphases on the palaces of Iraq through the book (Ma'aj Al-Buldan), relying on the chronology of history, starting with the palaces of Al-Hira in the pre-Islamic time and then moving to the era of the rightly-guided Caliphate of the Umayyads and Abbasids, and the most important palaces that built during their time in the cities of Baghdad and Samarra who were the center of their rule at that time.
