الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aimd at investigating the impact of entrepreneurship orientation on strategic performance of Jordanian public universities through strategic learning as a mediating variable.

Entrepreneurial was measured through proactiveness, risk-taking and innovation, while strategic learning was measured through the generation, interpretation, distribution and implimintation of strategic knowledge, finally, strategic performance was measured through a balanced scorecard (customer satisfaction, internal processes, learning and growth, and financial performance).

Three public universities (Yarmouk, Jordan, and Mutah) were chosen using a simple random sample method that represents the three regions (North, Middel, and South).

A survey of all 341 academics working in leadership positions was conducted.

213 valid questionnaires were retrieved with a response rate of 63%.

The data was analyzed using the partial least squares method (PLS).

The results indicated that the entrepreneurial orientation positively affects strategic performance and strategic learning, and strategic learning positively affects strategic performance.

Also, strategic learning affects the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and strategic performance as a mediating variable.

The results also indicated that proactiveness does not affect strategic performance and strategic learning, while risk-taking and innovation positively affects strategic performance and strategic learning.

Regarding strategic learning dimensions, the results indicated that the strategic knowledge generation, distribution and implimintation positively affect strategic performance, while interpretation does not affect the strategic performance of universities.

This study has made a number of important recommendations to enhance knowledge and understanding of the effects of these variables and their dimensions on the strategic performance of Jordanian public universities.
