The Child’s Image in the Arab theater Between the Dialectic of the Constant and the Variable It is recognized that theater today has become more than ever before one of the most important educational and pedagogical means that plays a leading role in helping children adapt to their reality, which is marked by dynamism, transformation, and openness to different cultures and languages.

Also, through theater, Arab children can acquire a set of sensory, kinesthetic, and emotional abilities that will help them face compound life challenges, and get rid of all types of psychological complexes that negatively affect their formative path, and the nature of their personalities.

It is noticeable that Arab playwrights paid special attention to children’s theater in terms of creativity, theorizing, and practice, years ago - although the level of interest varies from one Arab country to another.

Besides, many seminars, conferences, festivals, and meetings have been devoted to it.

Despite this, we have not yet lived up to the challenges that we aspire to, in terms of making the child’s theater in the Arab world a real medium to terms of making the child’s theater in the Arab world a real medium to instill great human values, and prepare our dear children to assume their future responsibilities, as well as cultivating an artistic, aesthetic sense in them that enables them to adapt and coexist w ith the rapid pace of modern life.

The image of the child in the Arab theater ranges between stability and stereotype, and between transformation and dynamism, as some Arab theatrical experiences insisted on presenting the Arab child in a static, stagnant image, when dealing with some common child themes.

While other theatrical experiences turned away from this choice by presenting a different and transformative image of the Arab child who is influencing and influenced by various events, as well as by economic, socio-cultural, and political transformations that define the geographical area in which he/she lives.
