This research deals with calculating the amount of deficit and surplus in health services in the districts of the Baghdad governorate.

the spatial limits of the research were represented by the districts of Baghdad governorate for 2018.

this research aims to determine the health potential of the districts by collecting data from different sources and applying a number of international and local planning criteria to find out the extent of the adequacy of health services provided to the population.

the application of these criteria yielded several results, most notably in terms of the number of hospitals, as all districts recorded a deficit with the exception of (Rusafa district), which has a surplus of 17 (hospitals, etc.).

according to the number of health centers, all districts registered a deficit, starting with the Rusafa district when the Tarmiyah district recorded the least inability.

as for the popular medical clinics, the inability was distributed among the districts of Baghdad governorate, unlike the previous arrangement, where the Rusafa district recorded the least, while the Tarmiyah district recorded the largest.

concerning the number of beds in the hospitals, it was found that the governorate of Baghdad in general recorded an inability of 6012 beds, but according to the district, Rusafa was the only one that witnessed a surplus of 1649 beds, where all the remaining districts witnessed an inability that was higher than in the Adhamiya district.

finally, the number of doctors has indicated a surplus in all the districts except al-Madaen and al-Tarmiyah.
