The thinker Hassan Hanifi is one of the most prominent contemporary Arab thinkers whose writings have aroused interest in the issue of heritage and its revival.

his visions are crystallized in his formation of a large civilized intellectual project whereby he can advance the nation to overcome all its obstacles that stand in the way of reform and progress; he sees heritage as the first pillar in the reform process which can be advanced by revealing new levels to read, analyze, restructure and interpret it according to the needs of the age.

Hanifi's project, in this vision, falls into three sections, the first of which is his position concerning the ancient heritage, which is the main axis around which this research revolves, and where he (Hanifi) tries to rebuild the foundational sciences of this heritage, represented by the science of the fundamentals of religion, the philosophy of civilization, the fundamentalist methodology, the science of mysticism, tradition-transmission sciences, mathematics, natural sciences, and humanity sciences.

Hanifi describes the Islamic civilization and its developments to establish unity of sciences in the Islamic heritage in which he focuses on man and history to link heritage with reality as the former is seen as a psychological reservoir whose ideas and perceptions continue to guide people's behavior in their daily lives.

heritage cannot be neglected or stayed away from; it is there in any process of change or reform; rather, it must be always highlighted and explored, in such a way that makes it conform and go hand in hand with the requirements of the age and its development; this end is what contributes to the development of reality and solving its problems.

in conclusion, heritage for Hanifi is not a goal in itself, but a means around which the possibility of revival and renewal can be managed.
