This research, entitled with (The Reasons of Dhikr in the books ‘Lights on Kumayl’s Supplication and Lights on Morning Supplication by Sayyid Izz al-Din Bahr al-Ulum) came to shed light on the reasons of dhikr in two glorious supplications, as well as to shed light on the life of a religious, scientific, and social personality, namely Sayyid Izz al-Din Bahr Sciences.

The importance of the topic lies in the fact that it studies the reasons of dhikr in books related to the explanation of supplications.

My study deals with two important books that explain two great supplications.

I may have been a pioneer -by the grace of God- in this field.

Most of the previous studies and efforts related to the causes of the dhikr revolved around the Holy Qur’an and its interpretations, and the examples in this regard are many and wellknown.

The importance also lies in the fact that these two books have not been studied before - within the limits of my knowledge-in a linguistic study, so my study is the first in this regard, praise be to God.

In this study, I followed a descriptive, analytic, and inductive approach, based on a careful and detailed reading of the two books, identifying the Reasons of Dhikr in them, as well as tracking and monitoring what others wrote.

It also explains and analyses some of the issues followed by either approval or disagreement comment supporting my attitude with some evidence in both cases.

The study came in two sections preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion.

The introduction presents the life of Sayyid Izz al-Din Bahr al-Ulum (may God have mercy on him).

The first topic included the reasons of words Dhikr in the books by Sayyid Izz al-Din, and the second topic included the reasons of structure of Dhikr in the two books.

In its analysis, the study relied on the vision of the commentator comparing it with the opinions of other commentators to know the extent of the influence of Izz al-Din by others or his influence on others.

Likewise, I mentioned the places in which Sayyid Izz al-Din was singled out for the explanation, not from the point of comparison, but from the point of explaining the diligence of Sayyid Izz al-Din (may God have mercy on him).

The study necessitated referring to different resources and references.

These sources varied in terms of being printed books, letters, theses, or research.

They also varied in terms of the subject.

There are books of interpretation, grammar, lexicon, semantics, rhetoric and others.
