The research aims to introduce Imam al-Nahhas and his book: Meanings of the Qur’an “Ma’ani Al-Qur’an”, and to clarify the importance of the derivative origin in denoting the meaning of the Qur’anic vocabulary, and to show the value of the book: Meanings of the Qur’an “Ma’ani Al-Qur’an” by al-Nahhas and his interest in this field of knowledge.

Among the most important results of the research is that knowing the derivative origin of the Qur’anic vocabulary is one of the precise ways to know its meaning, and that it helps to understand the exegesis opinions of the predecessors, and to know it’s critiques and rationals, and the consolidation and validations of the opinions.

Al-Nahhas excelled in this field, and he was one of the first scholars who addressed it.

Al-Nahhas benefited a lot from his teacher Al-Zajjaj in this regard and was also influenced by Ibn Qutayba and Ibn Jarir Al-Tabari.
