it is one of the most important means of directing public opinion, as it is a message aimed at serving society and the individual at the same time.

therefore, this research is considered one of the historical research in the well-known scientific research methods in following up the information and data that were recorded in the past, to be revised and criticized with objective impartiality, to know who wrote it or added to it to compare it with the stages it went through, so this research aims to know the history of journalism Iraq in the past, reviewing the topics that were dealt with, starting with the meaning of the press, its names, its history and the beginnings of its appearance, especially its stages, the roles of its emergence, and its statistics issued from 1869 until 1933, as well as the developments it went through, leading to conclusions and recommendations.
