Drug addiction phenomenon awareness : university students opinion

The drug addiction phenomenon (DAP) is one of the current dilemmas suffered by many societies, including the Iraqi society.

this study aimed to identify the level of awareness of the DAP among university students, and to identify the significance of the differences in awareness of dap according to the gender variable (male-female) among university students and to identify the significance of the differences in awareness of the phenomenon of drug addiction according to the variable of specialization.

(Scientific-Humanitarian) among university students.

A random stratified research sample of 250 male and female students were chosen from four colleges at the University of Baghdad : (College of; Media, Political Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine).

They were distributed according to; College, gender and majors.

al-Attabi 2018 valid and reliable tool was used to test the phenomenon.

the results showed that university students are aware of the DAP and in favor of males, and it was also found that there is no difference between students of humanitarian and scientific specialization in awareness of the phenomenon of drug addiction.

the study came out with a number of recommendations and proposals.
