This study is devoted to the analysis of the representation of some of the educational reforms in the Algerian press.

the focus is on the reforms introduced in 2003 and accomplished by "La commission nationale de la réforme du système éducatif Algérien" (CNRSE).

the period between 2000-2002 was highly characterized by the involvement of mainstream media in the discussions and debates about teaching French-at the primary level-as the first foreign language ; for the second year pupils instead of the 4th year.

the point of view represented in the press were divided into two categories : for and against the reform.

on attempt is to cover as many points of view as possible.

for this reason we have selected four daily newspapers, two of them are edited in French and two in Arabic.

all of them have, almost ; the same statut in term of popularity & sales.
