الملخص الإنجليزي

The study aimed at:1) recognizing the role of extracurricular activities in promoting the values of citizenship among secondary school students in Gaza governorates and ways of activating them.

2) examining whether or not there were statistically significant differences at (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the respondents’ estimation of the study sample for the role of extracurricular activities in promoting the values of citizenship among secondary school students in Gaza governorates (gender, cumulative average, specialization).

The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach, because of their relevance to the study.

The researcher prepared a questionnaire to know the role of extracurricular activities in promoting the values of citizenship among secondary school students consisted of (47) paragraphs distributed over four areas are values of loyalty and belonging justice and equality commitment and social responsibility rights and duties).

The study population consisted of all secondary school students in the Gaza governorates for the academic year (2019-2020) and the number (49624) students, and the questionnaire was applied to a random stratified sample consisting of (381) students and the data were statistically processed using SPSS program.

The study has reached several results, the most important of which are : -The degree of appreciation of secondary school students in Gaza governorates for the role of extracurricular activities in promoting the values of citizenship have a mean of (3.95) and relative weight (78.98%) in a large degree.

-There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the respondents’ estimation of the role of extracurricular activities in promoting the values of citizenship among secondary school students in Gaza governorates due to (sex and cumulative average), while there are differences due to variable(specialization), and for the benefit for the humanities.

Key recommendations include : 1-Activating the role of the school radio programs and investing it in enhancing students’ belonging to their country and religion through awareness programs and campaigns such as the duty towards God, the homeland and self and Mawtini competition.

2- need to apply educational activities for students for both sexes, belonging to the homeland is not linked to a sex or a color.

3-Holding heritage exhibitions in order to familiarize students with the folklore and heritage of our Palestinian people throughout history.

4-Implementing activities and workshops to educate students about their rights, especially the right of political participation through the student parliament in the classroom then the school and the directorate, as well as introducing them to their duties towards their homeland.
