الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aims at identifying the levels of family cohesion and its relation to independence and academic adjustment among female adolescents.

It also aims at looking for differences in family cohesion, independence and academic adjustment among female adolescents attributed to the variables (governorate, age, specialization, number of family members, family breadwinner, and living with parents).

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical approach to describe the subject of the study.

As for the applied aspect related to the standard study, the study used the quantitative approach through analyzing data by the SPSS statistical program to apply all statistical and standard methods.

The researcher used three scales, namely the family cohesion scale, independence scale and the academic adjustment scale in data collection.

The study sample consisted of 384 female adolescents.

The most important findings of the study : The relative weight of family cohesion was 72.24%, the relative weight of independence was 63.27%, and the relative weight of academic adjustment was 72.12%.

There was a statistically significant direct relationship between family cohesion and independence among the female adolescents in the Gaza Strip.

There was a statistically significant direct relationship between family cohesion and academic adjustment among female adolescents in the Gaza Strip, and there was a statistically significant differences between the mean scores of female adolescents in the governorate of Gaza and the mean scores of female adolescents in Rafah governorate, in favor of female students in governorate of Gaza, while there were no differences among other categories.

The most important recommendations of the study : The study recommends that families should cooperate with educational institutions to provide a sound and correct academic atmosphere that contributes to creating a spirit of family cohesion among female adolescents, and satisfy their psychological needs in a way that enhances their idea of themselves and contributes in their earnest pursuit of achieving their hopes and future desires.

Parents and the surrounding community in general should work to provide the appropriate atmosphere for female adolescents to enable them satisfy their psychological needs and achieve independence and selfreliance.
