الملخص الإنجليزي

The current study aimed to identify the relationship between acceptance of disability and both emotional intelligence and social inclusion among persons with physical disabilities in the Gaza Strip.

The study sample consisted of (364) persons with physical disabilities in the Gaza Strip, both males and females.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical approach.

The researcher prepared the acceptance of disability questionnaire and the social inclusion questionnaire and applied Daniel Goleman’s emotional intelligence scale (as in Abu Afash, 2011) The results showed that the level of acceptance of disability was (70%), the level of emotional intelligence was (77%), and the level of social inclusion was (77%).

The findings also revealed that there is a, statistically significant positive correlation between accepting disability and both emotional intelligence and social inclusion.

Moreover, the results showed that there is a, statistically significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence and social inclusion.

The findings also indicated that there are statistically significant differences in the acceptance of disability according to (gender, number of family members, degree of disability, work, cause of disability, number of years of disability), while there are no statistically significant differences in the degree of acceptance of disability according to (age, marital status, educational level, average of monthly income, presence of another person with a disability in the family, place of residence).

It was also found that there were statistically significant differences in the degree of emotional intelligence according to (age, marital status, number of family members, degree of disability, educational level, work, cause of disability, number of years of disability), while there were no statistically significant differences in the degree of emotional intelligence according to (gender, average of monthly income, presence of another person with a disability in the family, place of residence).

Finally, there are statistically significant differences in the degree of social inclusion according to (age, degree of disability, educational level, work, cause of disability, number of years disability), while there were no statistically significant differences in the degree of social inclusion according to (gender, marital status, number of family members, average monthly income, presence of another person with a disability in the family, place of residence).

The study recommended the need to provide rehabilitation programs that address health, social and psychological aspects, raise the capabilities of persons with physical disabilities, the degree of community awareness of the concept of disability, work on preparing public facilities to receive physical disable persons, and joint cooperation between all parties that deal with persons with disabilities.
