This article is an empirical analysis of the impact of economic freedom on growth in Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) between 2000 and 2018, taking into account other variables such as GFCF and the exchange rate.

The various estimation tests show that economic freedom has a positive effect on growth.

This result can be explained by the main channel of influence which seems to go through a direct productivity effect.

Unlike the exchange rate which has a negative impact explained by the depreciation of the national currencies of these countries which were confronted, at the start of their transition, with very high rates of inflation, due to the suddenly released price slippages.

The GFCF applies a positive effect on economic growth.

This result is explained by the implementation of the reforms which made it possible to converge on the economic situation prevailing in the EU

الملخص FRE

Le présent article est une analyse empirique de l'impact de la liberté économique sur la croissance dans les pays d'Europe Centrale et Orientale (PECO) entre 2000 et 2018, tenant compte d'autres variables comme la FBCF et le taux de change.

Les différents tests d'estimation montrent que la liberté économique a un effet positif sur la croissance.

Ce résultat peut être expliqué par le principal canal d'influence qui semble passer par un effet de productivité direct.

Contrairement au taux de change qui exerce un impact négatif expliqué par la dépréciation des monnaies nationales de ces pays qui ont été confrontés, au début de leur transition à de très forts taux d'inflation, dus aux dérapages de prix subitement libérés.

La FBCF exècre un effet positif sur la croissance économique.

Ce résultat est expliqué par la mise en œuvre des réformes ayant permis de converger vers la situation économique prévalant dans l'UE.
