The study aims to determine the level of creative abilities of heads of academic departments at Benghazi university, in addition to finding fundamental differences in the opinions of the respondents about some demographic variables such as gender, age, qualification, and experience on the level of the creative abilities of the participants.

the study adopted a descriptive method using the questionnaire survey for gathering data.

75 of the 80 distributed questionnaires were returned, representing a response rate of 93.8%.

the findings of the study indicate that the level of creative abilities of heads of academic departments was high.

they also showed there are no statistically significant differences in field of creative abilities at general according to gender, age, qualification and experience, and there are no statistically significant differences in terms of creative abilities according to age, qualification and experience.

however, there are statistically significant differences in terms of creative capabilities (originality) according to the gender variable, in favour of females.
