The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the impact of credit characteristics on the risk of default loans in Jordanian finance companies.

the population consists of 8 companies that were at the beginning of this study in addition to another company that was established later in 2014.

the characteristics of credit loans were measured by five variables specified to the borrowers namely : the ability to repay, the willingness to repay, capital and economic conditions represented by the nature of the borrowers’ activities of being commercial or others(industrial, agricultural and consuming) which seen as productive or none based upon different economies.

the results demonstrated statistically significant effect of the ability to repay on default loans, no statically impact of economic conditions represented by the nature of the activity.

a statistically significant effect of the willingness to pay on the dependent variable, a statistically significant effect of the borrowers’ capital on the dependent variable.
