The aim of the research is to know the phenomenon of the burden of maintenance and its impact on the standard of living of the family in Sudan, a local case study Kostis 20082020-AD.

The problem of the research was the result of this phenomenon in the low standard of family living, and to shed light on the nature of the relationship between the number of family members under sponsorship and the standard of living of the family Knowing the nature of the relationship between the income of the head of the family, the number of those under dependents, and the level of consumption and savings for the family.

In addition to identifying the type of relationship between the number of pensioners, children and women in the family, family income, tax rates and fees imposed and their relationship to the standard of living of the family.

The research also assumed the following hypotheses: There is a statistically significant relationship between the number of family members under the sponsorship of the head of the family and the family’s standard of living.

There is a statistically significant relationship between the income of the head of the family, the number of dependents and savings, and the standard of living.

There is also a statistically significant relationship between the increase in the number of pensioners, children, women and the family, the income of the head of the family, the increase in tax and fees, and the standard of living of the family.

The research reached the following results: Most of the sample members are self-employed, and the average income level for the sample is in the range of LE8000 below the poverty line.

The research also proved that there is an increase in the number of children and women under dependents in the research sample, and the weak contribution of the unmarried in the maintenance of families, and the decrease in the family’s standard of living in food and electricity.

Also, the burden of maintenance has doubled due to the extension of the family and the weak savings of the surveyed families and the lack of impact of government cash support Reducing the burden of maintenance, and decreasing the proportion of pensioners in the families studied.

It became clear that most of the families’ income is spent on essential goods only, and the spending on education and health is weak.

The research also recommended the following: The necessity of improving the income of heads of families from self-employment through the provision of financing and small projects.

Employment opportunities should be expanded and educational opportunities should be provided to families and vulnerable groups in order to ensure decent livelihoods.

Providing free basic education and treatment for children, pensioners and women.

The value-added tax and interest fees should be reviewed, workers’ wages raised, and pensioners’ salaries improved.
