The Red Sea is considered one of the mo& important in- ternational waterways due to its distinctive strategic location, and the region is witnessing international and regional competition in order to exploit its military and political position to protect the in- terests of these competing forces.

The study discussed the Russian strategic role in the Red Sea region by focusing on the strategic importance of the Red Sea, and it aimed to identify the motives that were behind the Russian presence in the region and to know the means to achieve that presence in the Red Sea region, as well as the challenges that Russia faces in regaining its role on the &age Including its presence in the Red Sea region ,The study raised a major question: What are the motives and justifications behind the Russian presence in the Red Sea region?, and there is a basic by- pothesis that the Russian presence in the Red Sea region comes in order to restore the Russian role on the international &age, and this supports the distinguished bilateral cooperative relations in all fields with the countries of the region The researcher relied on the historical method to extrapolate the historical events as well as the descriptive and analytical method according to the requirements of the scientific research methodology.
