Creams were prepared using extracts of sage (Salvia Officinalis), then SPF values were calculated in the laboratory by measuring the UV spectrum, using the Mansour mathematical equation for ten creams, part of it was prepared by adding sage extracts (ethanol and aqueous) and the other part was prepared by adding titanium oxide in varying proportions (With sage extracts and without them), then the sun protection factor for these ten creams were tested after applying them to the skin, and exposing them to solar radiation directly and with varying time periods, with comparison to the effect of two placebo creams that were prepared without the addition of neither sage extracts or titanium oxide.

The cream prepared with the water sage extracts (O/W = F1) showed better efficacy as sunscreen, and it had the highest protection value (sage extract ratio 1%), where the SPF was equivalent to 43 while it was lower in the rest other creams, and it was the lowest value in terms of Solar protection cream prepared from the ethanolic sage extracts (W/O =F4) (with 2% of sage extract) and has an SPF value of 19.

As for the creams prepared by titanium oxide and ethanolic sage extract showed a 1% stronger protecting effect than the prepared creams with titanium oxide only.

Prepared placebo creams without any additions, whether from sage extracts or titanium oxide did not show any protective effect from the sun’s rays.

The necessary pharmaceutical tests were performed, evaluated and optimized: Viscosity testing, determination of pH value, and stability on the shelf - for prepared creams.
