Gastric ulceration is a common adverse effect of many medication, including Non- steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and bisphosphonates (BPs) that is used for osteoporosis.

Bisphosphonates use is associated with peptic ulcer manifested, in its severe state, in hemorrhage and perforation.

Methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM) was used in different doses to cure BPs ulceration.

Our research aimed to study the effect of MSM in treatment of peptic ulcer induced by Alendronate in rats.

The experiments had been done on 8 white wistar rats for each studied group.

The gastric ulcer has been induced by oral administration of Alendronate (20mg/kg/day) for 4 days.

400 mg/kg/day of MSM has been given for the first therapeutic group for 4 days, after administration of Alendronate.

While the other therapeutic group has been given 800 mg/kg/day of MSM.

The gastric ulcers in rats' stomachs were examined histologically and microscopically.

The ulcer index and curative index were measured, and the statistical analyses were carried out.

Results showed the efficacy of MSM in treatment of peptic ulcer induced by alendronate, that administration of MSM, in both doses, after inducing ulcer led to reduction in ulcer index and gave significant difference comparing with morbidity group.
