This study aims at identifying the perceptions of Job Seeking youths in Oman towards work and reaching a set of recommendations that contribute to building positive perceptions towards the work in line with contemporary development trends and the requirements of Oman Vision 2040.

To accomplish these targets, this study adopted a descriptive and analytical method through designing an open-ended questionnaire to analyze all responses of registered job seekers in the second round of TEQDAR program which is organized by Youth Vision services and Investment to train and enhance job seekers> skills.

There were 813 active participants during this program.

The response sheet had five entries as follows: • Personal Data of the participants.

• The preferred sector targeted by the participants • The conditions to be hired in possible jobs in identified sectors • The feasibility for these candidates to start their own business.

• Their expectations of the requirements of these sectors so they could be selected.

The preliminary results show that 51.7% of participants preferred to work in the private sector compared to 39.9% preferred towards the government sector.

On job requirements most of the responses revolved around the relevance of their qualifications to the job requirements, encouraging work environment, and the provision to improve their skills.

In addition, these jobs should be financially rewarding with an attractive incentive system.

On the required standards by the employer; the participants) responses outlined the necessity to have experience and training certificates reached 51.4%, while the majority of 73.1% we more inclined to start their own business.

The study also reached a set of recommendations that contribute to building positive perceptions towards working in line with contemporary development trends and the requirements of Oman's 2040 Vision, most notably: opening vocational, professional institutes and centers for high school students.

Educational institutions adopting mandatory training programs for eleventh-grade students; to help them determine a career path and to provide a set of educational opportunities in higher education institutions in scientific disciplines for them to take without limiting them to certain degree standards or the high school diploma grade.

Also, not to relate career promotions in public and private sector institutions to the educational qualification, and encourage and motivate the private sector to activate part-time work and regulate it, and codify the concept of experience; to be the concept under clear standards and controls.
