This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of applying the Kaizen approach on rationalizing decisions of cost reduction and quality increase in Saudi manufacturing firms.

To achieve this aim, first, the inductive approach is implemented to build required theoretical background, followed by applying the descriptive approach through analyzing and presenting the results of the field study.

Data required for the field study was collected through distributing a questionnaire to a random sample of accountants, production supervisors and production managers in Saudi manufacturing firms, The data obtained (107 respondents) was analyzed using the statistical package (SPSS).

The outcome of the study revealed several results, the most important of which is that the goal of implementing the Kaizen approach in Saudi manufacturing firms (cost reduction and quality increase) is achieved by making continuous and small gradual improvements through activating a set of procedures and methods that take into account all of the production processes, working personnel and tools used.

The results of the current study also concluded that senior managers in the Saudi industrial firms play a significant role in the success of implementing the Kaizen approach, which in turn depends on the management’s success in the accuracy, wisdom and cooperation between employees and management.

Accordingly, the results attained highlight the need for Saudi industrial firms to adopt a strategy to improve production processes, one of the most important of which is the Kaizen approach.

The researcher recommends that Saudi industrial firms should implement the Kaizen approach, as has proven its effectiveness and its critical role in rationalizing decisions, saving time, effort, and costs.

The researcher also recommends the need to pay attention to the human element, provide support and training courses, raise skills, and spread the spirit of cooperation among workers.

Finally, the researcher assures the necessity of paying attention to meeting the needs of customers, identify and overcome any problems faced.
