This study, which was carried out by a number of researchers from master‘s students at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, aimed to know the effectiveness of a training program based on the principles of palliative education to develop the cognitive and behavioral skills of students with intellectual disabilities in the city of Al-Kharj.

the effectiveness of the training program was measured by the development of those cognitive and behavioral skills through the scale prepared by researchers.

the study sample consisted of (20) students with intellectual disabilities, (10) students were placed as an experimental group from the King Abdullah High School program, and (10) students were placed as a control group from Al-Bukhari high school, and the experimental group was subjected to the training program and to answer the study questions the arithmetic averages of the performance of the members of the experimental and control groups were calculated on the pre and post measurements, and the Mann-Whitney ordinal test coefficient or calculation was used.

the results concluded: there is a statistically significant effectiveness of the training program based on the principles of palliative education to develop the cognitive and behavioral skills of students with intellectual disabilities due to the group variable on the dimensional measurement in favor of the experimental group.

there was no difference in the effectiveness of the training program according to the variables of gender, age, and years of service.

this result shows the high effectiveness of the training program, and the study recommends the necessity of applying the training program within the intellectual education programs in the city of Al-Kharj.

and conducting more studies to implement the principles of palliative education in the classrooms for people with disabilities.
