This article includes a quick review of the physical protection of nuclear materials, facilities and the International Convention for the Suppression of Nuclear Terrorism, in order to clarify the features of the "legal and regulatory approach" established by two conventions.

The first is the state’s responsibility for establishing and consolidating a safe environment, and ensuring adequate physical protection for nuclear facilities, materials and activities under their jurisdiction.

While the second is to build bridges of international cooperation between the state parties, to provide and activate the tools of this protection across borders, and to prevent terrorist acts on a global scale.
