Themes of debating are considered – among some scholars of Uṣūl al-fiqh – one of the branches of Uṣūl al-fiqh, considering their interest in verifying sayings, proving their strength and cohesion, and revealing the consistency of the discourse and its consistency with the best methods of reasoning, and denying it all weakness.

Moreover, the theme of debating was known to the previous scholars and practiced by them.

They noticed some fallacies that distort the process of proving statements and inferring them, which gives the illusion of the strength of the saying and the provisions of inference on it.

However, after carefully considering these opinions and their arguments and testing them through debating with fulfilling all correct pillars and conditions, that opinion’s weakness and fallacy become apparent because it is billed upon sophistry and falsehood.

Therefore, the current research revealed some of the misconceptions of the opponents of Ahl al-Sunnah in some issues of Uṣūl al-fiqh.

The study concluded that there are seven issues in which the innovators disagreed with scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-jama’ah, in themes of Sunnah, abrogation and imperatives, and built their opinions on arguments containing fallacies in terms of meaning.

The study recommended collecting sophist arguments in all issues of Uṣūl al-fiqh and refuting them.
