During the current year, Sudan witnessed a lot of controversy regarding the school curricula, which led to the official interven- tion by the executive bodies, represented by the Prime Minister, who recommend the formation of a committee of specialists from scholars and education experts, to Study the proposed curricula that aroused a great deal of public confusion.

Curriculum is a clear roadmap for both the teacher and the learner.

So curriculum in this sense is considered the shortest and the safest way to deliver in- formation to the Students or trainees, with the least possible effort, with the fastest means and at a reasonable cost.

Curricula are de- signed to achieve the aspirations of the individual at the personal level and attain the goals and the agendas of the State as well, at the general level, aiming to preparing a citizen who possesses the necessary knowledge and skills that will contribute to advancing the social and economic development of the country.

The transla- tors intended to present these human experiences from such ad- vanced countries, like Japan and the United States of America, to enrich the Sudanese curriculum and help to develop the textbook industry in Sudan.

This will be useful to help meeting the contem- porary needs of the Sudanese person in this modem knowledge society and qualify our graduates to compete at Global Standards.

The world economy today is built on high technical knowledge and unique skills.

This article tells the historical development of textbooks industry in Japan and America.

They are two great expe- riences that deserve to be studied in local context to shed light on the current Sudanese educational situation.
