The importance of the Red Sea lies in a set of intertwined geopolitical, security and economic factors.

It is the most important and shortest sea route linking three continents and a major crossing for global trade.

In addition to its proximity with several highly sensitive regions such as the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Ocean.

The research problem is represented in the international and regional competition in the Red Sea region, which Sudan is located on the western coast of it that affects the Sudanese national security.

The study adopted the descriptive and historical method in collecting strategic and security information on the subject of the study from various sources, analysing it by comparison and presenting it to the relevant scientific theories.

The study’s main findings were represented in the weak Arab and Sudanese strategy and possibilities dedicated to the containment and confrontation of foreign existence in the Red Sea.

It is clear that international and regional pressures on Sudan and the security of its coast continue, in various forms, including the insistence of many regional and international countries on the military and civilian presence on its coast.

One of the study’s most important recommendations is the need to support the Armed Forces by developing the capabilities of the Naval Forces.

It is also necessary to strengthen the Security and Intelligence Services and activate their roles to confront the negative activities on the Sudanese coast.

In addition to the cooperation and joint strategic planning of the Red Sea countries to ensure its safety and keep it away from regional and international conflicts.
