most of the research and studies dealt with the oud instrument from a practical point of view in terms of the way it is played and the technique of the instrument, and did not address its prominent role in developing the artistic and lyrical aspects of Arabic music and relying on it in setting the rules and foundations on which it was built.

the researcher noticed this problem, so he collected everything he could from ancient and modern sources that dealt with shedding light on the role he played in the development of Arabic music in its instrumental and lyrical part, by conducting an analytical study of this ancient instrument.
