The study aimed to estimate the production function and the production and economic efficiency of the dry winter bean crop in Menoufia governorate through a random sample of bean farmers during the winter season 2021 / 2022.

the problem of the study was the fluctuation of the cultivated area of winter dry beans from one year to another during the period (2010-2020), and the rise in the prices of production requirements and the rent of agricultural land in the research sample and its reflection on the production costs of the dry winter bean crop.

the most important results were : the cultivated area and production of winter dry bean crop took a general statistically significant increasing trend, while the feddan productivity of winter dry bean crop in Egypt and Menoufia governorate took a general statistically significant decreasing trend during the period (2010-2020).

by studying the structure of the total costs of the research sample for the dry winter bean crop, it was found that the variable costs amounted to about 48% and the fixed costs amounted to 52% of the total average total costs, which amounted to about 11,985 pounds.

with each of the amount of seeds (kg), the amount of municipal fertilizer (cubic meter), the amount of phosphate fertilizer (effective unit), the amount of pesticides (in liters), the amount of human work (man), and automated work (hour) and these work production inputs in the second stage of economic production, while there is an insignificant inverse relationship between the quantity of dry winter bean production in kilograms and the amount of nitrogen fertilizer (effective unit) added to the crop.

it was also found that dry bean farmers suffer from several problems due to the lack of the role of the extension system in the agricultural directorates and associations.

the research recommended : the necessity of activating the role of the agricultural extension apparatus and providing information and agricultural seminars to educate farmers, and given the dwarfness of the areas planted with the dry bean crop, the type of crop grown from it must be unified in an area of not less than 5 acres so as not to affect the pollination of the crop and thus productivity.
