This research paper deals with a brief study on the emergence of modern Arabic lexicon and its stages of development by focusing on the concept of the lexicon and standing on the differences that distinguish it from the concept if the dictionary and the encyclopedia by tracing the various nomenclature and terms that have been known over time, starting with the search in the stronge qur'an and hadith to explain the ambiguous word, passing through the classification of lexical material and its issuance in the form small letters bearing the title of a book wich are specialized dictionaries, leading to the construction of integrated general dictionaries that are usually dated in al-Ain lexicon and the subsequent stages that indicate the development of the Arabic lexicon.

the lexical composition of the advanced and the late Arabs it is one of the greatest inventions of mann to protect the language and its preservation in order for it to remain permanently alive and evolving wich gives him a linguistic wealth that he returns to in order to obtain from it what suits his needs in expressing his thoughts the feelings, and meanings, and transferring his experiences and knowledge, and thus perhaps he or she threw it alive, for geting hey given the paramount importance of the lexicon and the urgent necessity of its presence in human life, we raise the problem the following what is the concept of lexicon ? and what are the stages of its development ?
